This prevents others from using the biometric without your involvement. But now let's see how to do this lock/ unlock online easily.
How to Lock Aadhar biometric?
- For this you have to login in My Aadhar Portal through Aadhar number and OTP (https://myaadhaar.uidai.gov.in/).
- Click on Lock/ Unlock biometric option on the screen.
- It includes an explanation of how the lock/ unlock works. Click on the next option that appears on that page.
- Soon please select to lock will open. Tick the check box below and click on next.
- Your biometrics have been locked successfully will be displayed on the screen. That's it, your Aadhar biometric will be locked. Once locked, a red lock will appear in the Lock/ Unlock biometric option.
How to unlock your Aadhar Biometric?
- A red lock will appear on the Lock/Unlock Biometric option after logging into the portal. If this means your biometric is locked.
- To unlock, follow the same method as mentioned above.
- However, when you tick the Please Select to Lock term box, two options will appear.
- It will ask if your biometric unlock is temporary or permanent. Select the option you want.
- Choose and click on Next. Your biometrics have been unlocked successfully will appear on the screen. That's it your biometric is unlocked.
- If you choose the temporary unlock option, your biometric will be unlocked only for 10 minutes.
- However, if Aadhaar biometric details are locked.. there will be no problem in completing OTP based verification.

- దీని కోసం ముందుగా మై ఆధార్‌ పోర్టల్‌లో ఆధార్‌ నంబర్‌, ఓటీపీ ద్వారా లాగిన్ అవ్వాలి. (https://myaadhaar.uidai.gov.in/)
- స్క్రీన్‌పై Lock/Unlock Biometric ఆప్షన్‌పై క్లిక్ చేయాలి.
- అందులో లాక్/అన్లాక్ ఎలా ఉపయోగపడుతుందనే వివరణ ఉంటుంది. ఆ పేజీలో కనిపించే Next ఆప్షన్‌పై క్లిక్ చేయాలి.
- వెంటనే Please Select to Lock ఓపెన్ అవుతుంది. కింద ఉన్న టర్మ్‌ బాక్స్‌లో టిక్‌ చేసి Next పై క్లిక్ చేయాలి.
- Your biometrics have been locked sucessfully అని స్క్రీన్‌పై డిస్‌ప్లే అవుతుంది. అంతే మీ ఆధార్‌ బయోమెట్రిక్ లాక్ అయిపోతుంది. లాక్ అవ్వగానే Lock/Unlock Biometric ఆప్షన్‌లో ఎరుపు రంగు లాక్ కనిపిస్తుంది.
అన్లాక్ ఇలా
- పోర్టల్‌లో లాగిన్ అవ్వగానే Lock/Unlock Biometric ఆప్షన్‌లో ఎరుపు రంగు లాక్ కనిపిస్తుంది. ఇలా ఉంటే మీ బయోమెట్రిక్ లాక్ అయిందని అర్థం.
- అన్లాక్ కోసం పైన చెప్పిన పద్ధతినే ఫాలో అవ్వాలి.
- అయితే ఇందులో Please Select to Lock టర్మ్‌ బాక్స్‌లో టిక్‌ చేయగానే రెండు ఆప్షన్లు కనిపిస్తాయి.
- మీ బయోమెట్రిక్ అన్లాక్ తాత్కాలికమా లేదా శాశ్వతంగానా అని అడుగుతుంది. ఇందులో మీకు కావల్సిన ఆప్షన్‌ ఎంచుకోవాలి.
- ఎంచుకొని Nextపై క్లిక్ చేయాలి. Your biometrics have been unlocked sucessfully అని స్క్రీన్‌పై కనిపిస్తుంది. అంతే మీ బయోమెట్రిక్ అన్లాక్ అయినట్టే.
- తాత్కాలికంగా అన్లాక్ ఆప్షన్‌ ఎంచుకుంటే కేవలం 10 నిమిషాలు మాత్రమే మీ బయోమెట్రిక్ అన్లాక్ అవుతుంది.
- అయితే, ఒకవేళ ఆధార్‌ బయోమెట్రిక్ వివరాలను లాక్ చేసినా.. ఓటీపీ ఆధారిత వెరిఫికేషన్‌ పూర్తి చేసుకోడంలో ఎలాంటి ఇబ్బందీ ఉండదు.
