Google Bolo-The Best Language Learning Android App in Hindi and English to Kids in India
Google introduces educational app Bolo to improve children’s literacy in India. Google built a free app to each in Hindi and English Languages to Kids in India.
Google just released a new Android app called Bolo (‘speak’ in Hindi) that’s designed to help children learn Hindi and English. It works completely offline, making it ideal for use in rural areas with poor mobile connectivity, and comes with a friendly voice assistant to guide kids through the included lessons aimed at primary grade students.
Google says it had been trialing Bolo across 200 villages in Uttar Pradesh, India, with the help of nonprofit ASER Centre. During testing, it found that 64 percent of children who used the app showed an improvement in reading proficiency in three months’ time.
The app, which is presented in Hindi, features several stories in both languages suitable for different reading levels. With the help of Diya, the virtual assistant, kids can learn to read by repeating the sentences she reads aloud. If a child finds a word difficult to pronounce, Diya automatically detects that and helps them out before proceeding with the rest of the story.To run the pilot, 920 children were given the app and 600 were in a control group without the app, Google says.
In addition to improving their proficiency, more students in the group with the app (39 percent) reached the highest level of ASER’s reading assessment than those without it (28 percent), and parents also reported improvements in their children’s reading abilities.

గూగుల్ అందించే బోల్ యాప్ ద్వారా పిల్లలే కాదు.. తల్లిదండ్రులు కూడా కొత్త పదాలు నేర్చుకోవచ్చు. ప్రతి పదానికి అర్థం ఏంటో తెలుసుకోవచ్చు. ఈ యాప్‌లో యానిమేటెడ్ క్యారెక్టర్ 'దియా' పిల్లలకు హిందీ, ఇంగ్లీష్ నేర్పిస్తుంది. అంతేకాదు కథలు చెబుతుంది, మాటలు నేర్పిస్తుంది.

ఈ యాప్ను స్పీచ్ రికగ్నిషన్, టెక్ట్స్-టు-స్పీచ్ టెక్నాలజీల సాయంతో ప్రాథమిక విద్యార్థుల కోసం రూపొందించినట్లు గూగుల్ వెల్లడించింది. ఆండ్రాయిడ్ వినియోగదారులు దీనిని గూగుల్ ప్లే ద్వారా డౌన్‌లోడ్‌ చేసుకోవచ్చు. యాడ్‌ ఫ్రీ ఉన్న ఈ 'బోలో' యాప్ ఆఫ్‌లైన్‌లో కూడా పనిచేయడం విశేషం.
గూగుల్ ఈ యాప్ను 'యాన్యువల్ స్టేట్ ఆఫ్ ఎడ్యుకేషన్ రిసెర్చ్‌ సెంటర్‌ (ASER)' సహాయంతో ఉత్తరప్రదేశ్‌లోని 200 గ్రామాల్లో కొన్ని నెలలపాటు పరీక్షించి కేవలం మూడు నెలలలోనే 64 శాతం మంది పిల్లలలో చదివే నైపుణ్యం పెరగడాన్ని గుర్తించినట్లు తెలిపింది.ఒక్కో రాష్ట్రంలో అక్షరాస్యత శాతం, నాణ్యమైన పాఠాలు అందుబాటులో లేకపోవడం వల్ల ఒక్కో రాష్ట్రంలో అక్షరాస్యత శాతం ఒక్కోలా ఉందని పేర్కొంది. బోలో యాప్‌తో పిల్లల్లో చదివే ఆసక్తి, నైపుణ్యం పెరుగుతుందని గూగుల్ ధీమా వ్యక్తంచేసింది.ఈ యాప్ లో రీడింగ్ మెటేరియల్ క్యాటలాగ్ కూడా ఉన్నాయి.
ఎన్నో కథలు ఉంటాయి:
పిల్లలు చదివేందుకు వీలుగా ఇందులో ఎన్నో కథలు ఉంటాయి. ఇంగ్లీష్ భాషలో 40 కథలు, హిందీ భాషలో 50 స్టోరీలు ఉంటాయి. ఈ కథలన్నీ గూగుల్ పూర్తి ఉచితంగా అందిస్తోంది. రానున్న రోజుల్లో మరిన్ని కథలను అందించే దిశగా గూగుల్ ప్లాన్ చేస్తోంది.
అన్నీ ప్రాంతీయ భాషల్లోను :
అన్నీ ఆండ్రాయిడ్ స్మార్ట్ ఫోన్లలో ఈ యాప్ సపోర్ట్ చేస్తుంది. ఆండ్రాయిడ్ 4.4 (కిట్ కాట్)కు హైయర్ వర్షన్ లో సపోర్ట్ చేస్తుంది. ప్రస్తుతం ఈ యాప్ ను ప్రాంతీయ హిందీ మాట్లాడేవారి కోసం మాత్రమే డిజైన్ చేశారు. భవిష్యత్తులో ఇండియాలో అన్నీ ప్రాంతీయ భాషల్లోనూ ఈ యాప్ ను అందుబాటులోకి తెచ్చేందుకు గూగుల్ ప్లాన్ చేస్తోంది.
